RENTAL TREE ORDER - STEP 3.
RENTAL TREE AGREEMENT
General Terms of Rental
Throughout the rental period, the tree, pot and saucer remain the property of Christmas on the Hill.
Tree Care
-
The hirer must follow the care instructions carefully. Failure to care for the tree adequately may result in the loss of the deposit. This forms part of the Terms & Conditions.
-
Damage to branches or the pot, or excessive loss of needles, may result in the loss of the deposit.
-
Please do NOT use artificial snow / flock / glitter sprays. These contain chemicals that will seriously damage the tree and shorten its life, and will result in the loss of your deposit.
-
By agreeing to these terms, you are agreeing to water the tree every day with at least 1 pint of water, unless the saucer is still full. Failure to water the tree sufficiently will result in us retaining your deposit.
-
Please remove the netting from your tree as soon as you receive it – Christmas trees do not like being in netting!
Delivery
-
Delivery & Collection dates cannot be changed once you have placed your order. You will receive an email with an ETA the afternoon before delivery and collection.
-
A confirmation signature is required upon delivery, so please ensure someone is available to sign for the tree. If you choose for us to leave your tree in a safe place, this is at your own risk and your tree will be deemed delivered and signed for.
-
Delivery will be between 8 am and 8 pm on your confirmed day.
-
If you are no longer available to accept the delivery on the agreed day, please contact us via email a minimum of 48 hours before the day of delivery. If no one is available to sign for the tree at the point of delivery, and no delivery instructions have been left for us, further delivery charges may be incurred by you.
-
Delivery is to your doorstep only, unless you have paid for the optional upgrade to have the tree brought into your home. Our delivery drivers are not insured to enter your property, so please do not ask them to do so. Remember, the trees are grown in soil in their pots and are heavy to move, so please ensure you have someone to help you if necessary.
-
If you believe the tree is dead or dying, please photograph it within 30 minutes of delivery and email the photos to orders@christmasonthehill.co.uk. We will collect and replace the tree with an alternative rental tree, an alternative cut tree or will provide a full refund within 48 hours.
Collection
-
Collection will be between 8 am and 8 pm on your chosen day.
-
Collection is from your doorstep only, unless you have paid for the optional upgrade. Our drivers are not insured to enter your property.
-
Please ensure the tree is clear of decorations, lights and tinsel and is ready by your front door by 8 am. If the tree is not ready for collection by 8 am we may charge a £30 re-attendance fee and/or retain the deposit.
-
If you choose to leave your tree outside on the day of collection, you remain responsible for it until we collect it. We will not be liable for theft or damage. Additional charges will apply if you do not return the tree on the specified date.
Retaining the Deposit
-
We will automatically roll your deposit over to the following year unless you email us to request its return. Rollover guarantees you a rental tree the following year without joining the waiting list. We will contact you in September to confirm.
-
If you request return of the deposit, payment will be made at the end of January once all trees are back at the farm.
-
If the tree, pot and saucer are not available for collection on the date agreed, we will retain the deposit. Trees can only be indoors for a maximum of 25 days and need to return to the farm to survive.
Cancellations, Refunds & Exchanges
-
Rental trees are living items that grow naturally. Expect more character than a cut tree. They're sometimes a little bit quirky and have variations in colour. Their branches are more delicate and less bushy than a cut tree. All rental trees are Norway Spruce. They're quite spiky and you might need gloves when handling them. We will not accept swaps or refunds after the tree has been signed for, unless the tree is faulty.
-
Cancellations must be made by email no later than one week before delivery. Cancellations inside one week will forfeit the full payment.
-
Trees cannot be refunded or returned after signature except in accordance with your legal rights (e.g. faulty on delivery – see Delivery clause 6).
-
The 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations does not apply to living plants.
-
Refer to our Privacy Policy (link on website footer) for details of how we handle your data.
